Scientific integrity

Pursuant to article 5, paragraph 3 of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany, science and research in Germany shall be free. Apart from laws that prevent violations of the Constitution, the individual scientists are responsible for conducting research and exploiting the research findings. Free and independent research forms the basis for progress and innovation. At the same time, it harbours risks, such as violations of good scientific practice or misuse of research findings.
