Advice

You can submit your own applications within the DFG’s individual grants programmes (material allowances, research grants, Heisenberg Programme etc.). No signature from University management is required. However, if you wish we are happy to assist you with formal aspects, proposal content or budget calculation. If an Employer Statement is needed, we will coordinate all the steps required for its signature. Please notify us in good time.
If you are working at the Faculty of Medicine, please address any questions about individual grants from the DFG to the Research Officer of the Faculty of Medicine.

Applications for Collaborative Research Centres and Research Training Groups must be signed by the President, even if the actual content of the proposal is compiled by the applicant group under the spokesperson’s leadership. For this reason, such applications must be approved by the President’s Office. This applies for all faculties. Applications for Research Units must also be presented to the President’s Office.
Please contact the Research Management Department in good time if you are planning to submit an application within these programmes. We can provide you with text modules and best practice examples, proofread your application under consideration of formal and strategic aspects and coordinate internal administrative procedures, including preparation for President’s Office meetings.

Drafting a proposal

FAQ, planning tools and sample documents for applications to the DFG can be found in the download centre.
In most DFG programmes, the DFG Liaison Officer must be informed prior to submission of a proposal. The DFG Liaison Officer at HHU is undefinedProfessor Dr. Stefan Egelhaaf, Soft Matter Physics.

After approval

Information about what happens with your project once it has been approved – funding notification, setting up of a cost centre, personnel recruitment, services available from the Third-party Funding Department – can be found on the Project Implementation page.
