iBrain
Interdisciplinary Graduate School for Brain Research and Translational Neuroscience
The graduate school iBrain is a joint project of the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, the Research Center Jülich and the Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine Düsseldorf. The prime research goal of iBrain is to unravel the causes of major brain diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s Disease and brain tumors. These findings will then be translated into improved diagnostic tools and more effective therapies for these mostly incurable diseases. A major focus of iBrain will be the promotion of doctoral researchers in the neurosciences. Early stage researchers with a background in medicine or natural sciences will receive a top-level education and training. They will be provided with expert knowledge and skills in basic and clinical research in order to become internationally competitive neuroscientists. Thus, the graduate school iBrain stands for excellent research and training in translational neuroscience that is highly relevant for affected patients and their families as well as for our modern society in general.
